Why do water changes? And how do you do a water change?
In today’s video as part of our aquariums for beginners series, we’ll talk about why water changes are important, while also showing you how to perform them in a planted aquarium vs a non-planted aquarium.
Follow these 9 steps for a great water change & maintenance routine!
1-Turn off aquarium equipment
2-Clean decor & aquarium glass
3-Partially drain the aquarium (Gravel Vac if possible)
4-Trim, remove & replant if needed
5-Clean your filters & equipment if needed (this isn’t done EVERY water change)
6-Add your dechlorinator & fill up the tank (try to match the tanks temp)
7-Start back up your aquarium equipment (filters, surface skimmer etc)
8-Add aquarium fertilizer if utilized ( I used the @Aquarium Co-Op easy green)
9-Clean your aquariums glass! This can really impact your viewing quality
