In this video we are going over the proper location for your new reef tank along with tips for aquascaping and finally a quick overview of tank cycling. The location of your new tank plays a roll in your success. A tank on the second floor needs a structural engineer to confirm the floor is strong enough to withstand the weight. Your aquarium should have minimal sunlight exposure to ensure algae growth is at its minimum. I recommend you do all your aquascaping on the bottom glass of your tank to make the rock structure is as strong and stable as it can be. Bare bottom tanks can do this with water already in the tank but if you are using sand you must have the tank empty. Cycling a reef tank is easy once you get the basics down. You need to have a ammonia source and a saltwater test kit to verify when the final process is done. You will be testing ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.
